How can women in healthcare find jobs that align with their personal values and lifestyle?
So many women in healthcare think they have to fit their lives around a rigid job—but it doesn’t have to be that way.
It starts with getting crystal clear on what actually matters most to you.
When I coach women through career transitions, we always begin with their top three core values.
Yours might be:
Health
Peace
A slower, simpler lifestyle
Flexibility
Time with your kids
Community and connection
Knowing these values helps guide all life decisions—not just career ones.
Once you're clear on your values, make a SHORT list (3–5 features MAX) of what you're really looking for in a role.
Here are examples from real clients:
No nights, no weekends, no on-call
A short commute or remote work
Specific pay range or hourly rate
Opportunities for travel
Time for school pick-up/drop-off
A set schedule (3x12s, 5x8s, etc.)
Low-stress work over high-acuity environments
Room for creativity or professional growth
This short list becomes your filter for future opportunities.
Don’t just scroll job boards and settle for what’s familiar.
There’s a whole world of nursing and healthcare roles outside the hospital.
Look into:
Telehealth
Home care
School nursing
Education & training
Research
Case management
Aesthetics
Public health
Non-clinical healthcare startups
These can offer better hours, better alignment, and better energy.
Use your short list to filter job opportunities—not just for pay or titles, but for actual alignment.
Because here’s the truth:
Your career should support your life—not steamroll it.
If you’re stuck in a job that no longer fits or you’re burnt out and craving a change, I can help.
